VANDALIA - The Aviators have enjoyed a season of dominance in the Miami Valley League, and they added an exclamation point on Monday, run-ruling Xenia 10-0.
The win caps off a 17-1 record within the league, and ran the Butler win streak to twelve straight victories.
Scoreless after three complete, senior Boston Smith crushed a moonshot to right field, clearing the 24-foot "Purple Monster" for a league leading seventh round-tripper of the season. It would be all the offense Butler would need, as the Aviators got stellar pitching from the bump.
Senior lefty Quinton Hall (9-1) picked up the win, baffling the Buccs at the plate through four innings of work. Hall struck out seven and allowed just one hit in another dominating performance.
Sophomore Evan Ables impressed in his one inning of relief, striking out three, while allowing just one hit. Junior Cason Bennett closed out the win, also allowing just one hit with a strikeout.
Brice Echeman finished the day 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI - while freshman Austin Flohre went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
