VANDALIA - Butler (22-5) wrapped up the regular season Monday evening with a 4-2 win over visiting Fairmont.
Hunter Richardson (7-0) picked up the win for Butler, working an inning of relief for starter Jordan Taylor, allowing just one hit while striking out one.
Taylor worked the first three innings and notched three strikeouts in what was a solid performance. Evan Ables, Alex James and Casey Bennett closed out the win for Butler, combining for four strikeouts through the final three innings.
Austin Flohre and Jayden Watkins each doubled for the Aviators. Jordan Taylor, Max Rubins, Mitch Thomas and Joe Mendy each had an RBI in the win over the Firebirds.
The Aviators will return to action at home on Thursday for a Sectional Final showdown with the winner of Tuesday's West Carrollton/Stebbins game. First pitch is set for 5:00 pm.
