MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Butler (4-1,2-1) got the spring break trip started right with an 18-6 win over Knox Central. A 13-run first inning set the tone in this one, as the Aviators came out swinging.
Not only was it a great way to start the trip, but it also garnered high praise from the Butler head coach who has seen his share of talented Butler teams over nearly thirty seasons.
“That might have been the most impressive inning of offense I have ever seen out of a Butler team,” said Dues. “Our entire offense contributed including Flohre’s two bombs.”
The Aviators did have a big day at the plate, scattering 21 hits, while holding the Panthers to just five hits in the five inning, run-rule win.
Austin Flohre led the hit parade for Butler, going 3-for-3 with two homeruns and six RBI. The junior went yard in the first and second innings for the Aviators.
Alex Ables finished 4-for-4 with 2 RBI and Sam Mitchell went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. Russ Stratman doubled in the win and Hunter Richardson added a double and a triple.
Senior Evan Ables (2-0) earned the win from the mound striking out six and allowing just three earned runs on the day.
The Aviators return to action this afternoon at 1:30 against Ashland Blazer.
