VANDALIA - The Aviators got back on track Monday afternoon with a key 9-0 victory over Sidney (8-2, 5-2). The win lifts the Aviators to 9-1 overall and 8-0 in Miami Valley League play.
Senior Kaden Echeman (4-0) dazzled from the mound, striking out ten, while allowing just one hit through six innings of work. Echeman was relieved in the seventh by Cameron "Bitty" Hendricks who came on and closed out the win, allowing just one hit and notched a strikeout to end the game.
Boston Smith hit his third homerun of the season, this one a two-run shot to right-center. Smith also added a double in the win.
Hendricks and Echeman each added a double of their own for the Aviators, who made the most of their eight hits.
Butler will travel to Sidney on Tuesday to wrap-up the series at 5:00 pm.
