RIVERSIDE - On a day when the Aviators only needed two runs to win, the offense erupted for 19.
Paced by monster plate appearances by junior Mitch Strehle (4-for-4, 5 RBI, 3 Runs) and Jayden Watkins (4-for-4, 3 RBI, 3 Runs, 1 Double), the Aviators scattered 15 hits in a 19-1, five inning run-rule win.
Senior righty Evan Ables (7-0) picked up the win on the mound for Butler, working four innings with seven strikeouts, and allowed just two hits with no earned runs.
Fellow senior Josh Morris came on in relief in the fifth inning and retired the side with a groundout and back-to-back punchouts.
Sophomore Hunter Richardson (2-for-3, 2 RBI, 2 Runs) also tripled for the Aviators.
Butler wraps the MVL portion of the schedule with a series against Greenville. Game One will be Tuesday at Greenville with the series finale coming on Thursday at Butler for Senior Night. Both games are slated to start at 5:00 pm.
