Butler Puts 14-0 Run-Rule on Pirates


VANDALIA - After two days of rain, blue skies again made an appearance in Vandalia as the Aviators won their seventh straight - this one a 14-0, run-rule win over West Carrollton.


Sophomore Owen Strawser (1-0) got the start and the win for Butler, working two innings while allowing just one hit and struck out three. The freshman trio of Tate Richardson, Jackson Schilling and Koby Dues closed out the win for the Aviators, allowing just a hot while combining for five punchouts.


Hunter Richardson continued his hot streak at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. Sam Mitchell (2-for-3, 2 RBI) also had a double, while Dues finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and a triple.


Mitch Strehle put together a nice afternoon with a 3-for-4 performance and four RBI, along with Austin Flohre who was 2-for-3 with three RBI.


Lance Lairson, Mason Reckner, Landon Case, Max Rubins, Brody Miller and Alex Ables each contributed a hit in the win. The victory takes Butler to 9-2 overall an 6-0 in MVL play.


The Aviators host a non-conference matchup Saturday evening at 6:30 against Springboro, a game that will pit two Division I Top Ten teams against one another.
