VANDALIA - As frustrating as it was for the Aviators to drop their final two games in Myrtle Beach last week - it did allow for them to earn a monumental win at home Monday evening.
Paced by a dominating performance on the mound by junior Mason Reckner (1-1), the Aviators secured an 8-0 win over Greenville, for head coach Trent Dues' 600th career win.
Originally scheduled to be played in Greenville, rain soaked field conditions required a change of venue to Vandalia. From there, Reckner and the Aviators went to work, ensuring that win 600 would come in front of the home crowd.
Reckner went the distance for Butler, striking out 12 batters, while allowing just 3 hits. He also got it done at the plate for Butler, finishing 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Freshman Koby Dues added to dad's special day by going 2-for-4, while fellow freshman Jackson Schilling added an RBI double.
Brody Miller added two RBI, and Max Rubins, Hunter Richardson and Austin Flohre each contributed an RBI in the win.
Weather permitting, Butler is back in action on Wednesday when they travel north to Sidney, to face former Butler player/coach Ryan Townsend and his Yellow Jackets at 5:00 pm.
