MYRTLE BEACH, SC - After a long day of baseball at the beach, the Aviators ran out of gas under the Tuesday night lights, falling to Union County (SC) by a score of 4-2. Despite outhitting the Jackets 6-5, Butler was not able to move runners and find the gaps at the key times of the game,
Junior Brody Miller led the Aviators offensively with a hit and two RBI, while freshman Koby Dues added a triple and senior Austin Flohre legged out a double.
Senior Zak Strobel, freshman Jackson Schilling and junior Hunter Richardson each had a hit for Butler.
Junior Mason Reckner (0-1) got the start for Butler working five innings, allowing just two earned runs while striking out six. Reckner was relieved in the sixth inning by sophomore Davis Ketterer who came on and struck out the side in impressive fashion.
The Aviators will get a day off on Wednesday, and weather permitting will return to action on Thursday with a 4:00 pm matchup against Batavia (IL). The current forecast is calling for substantial rain all day Thursday.
